SAVE A STRAY
Please note: AAPAW is not a shelter and does not have any facilities to take in stray or unwanted cats or dogs.
If you are a Good Samaritan who has found a lost or stray pet, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for saving a life, but please be prepared to foster this pet until room can be found with a rescue or shelter. In many cases, if you can foster the pet you have just saved, a rescue or shelter may be able to list the dog or cat on their website and help you get it adopted. You may be asked to bring the dog or cat to adoption events on the weekends.
Many, if not most, rescuers work full-time jobs and volunteer their time and funds to help San Antonio’s homeless pets and do not have unlimited resources to take in every pet that is rescued by Good Samaritans. It is our hope that the Good Samaritans will join AAPAW in saving more lives by opening their own homes to temporarily foster the pet and provide food, shelter and care for the homeless pets they rescue.
